Red Deuce by Thomas Roehlk is a fascinating legal thriller with two incredible protagonists, twin sisters, Mandy and Reggie Doucette, who are both at the top of their respective careers. Reggie was an FBI pathologist, while Mandy was a corporate lawyer. The story begins as Mandy questions everything about her latest case. A Fortune 500 company has made some recent acquisitions in the USA, but Mandy sensed something fishy about their handlings. A whistleblower who complained about the company suddenly disappeared, and that was when Mandy knew she had to hasten her investigation. Before she knew it, things were developing into something too big for her to handle. On the other hand, Reggie was investigating a mystery as well. Dead bodies were found in the forests and cornfields and it was up to Reggie to find out who they were. Soon, both sisters were under fire, and their lives were threatened. Could it be possible that both cases were connected? If so, how will Mandy and Reggie survive?

Incredibly well-written, Red Deuce was a fantastic novel that had me sitting on the edge of my seat. The narrative style was incredible, and the fast-paced plot was perfect. I loved the red-headed twin sisters, who were equally intelligent. Mandy was the inquisitive one, confident, and very sharp. Reggie, on the other hand, was the quiet type who listened to her head before she took any action. I loved their character development and their genuine reactions. It was hard for me to decide who I liked the most. Author Thomas Roehlk made sure there was plenty of action to keep the reader entertained. The narrative style was perfect. The twists were unexpected; I was never able to guess what would happen next, and it only made me want to read on. This was the perfect weekend novel, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I highly recommend it!

In Red Deuce by Thomas Roehlk, advanced military products are being supplied by LaSalle to the U.S. military, with Allzient serving as an add-on. As the business lawyer overseeing LaSalle's acquisitions, Mandy Doucette feels uneasy about Allzient. Allzient received a whistleblower complaint from their financial officer about bribery shortly after the transaction was announced. A seemingly straightforward corporate transaction comes to a halt when the FBI and DOJ become involved due to the discovery of corpses and bribery. Reggie Doucette, Mandy's twin sister, works as an FBI forensic pathologist and is investigating the deaths of two men whose bodies were discovered in a Pennsylvania cornfield. Reggie questions whether the corpses have anything to do with Mandy's Allzient inquiry, and soon they become targets to prevent them from getting answers.

Thomas Roehlk's legal thriller Red Deuce is an engrossing story of murder, bribery, action, and crime. The story was fast-paced and jam-packed with action. It was a page-turner that kept me captivated from the first page until the end. My curiosity was piqued till the conclusion by all the unexpected twists and turns, and I was guessing all the way. I could not put this book down because the suspense had me on the edge of my seat. The characters were authentic and relatable and they could be anyone I knew. Mandy was a person who wanted justice to be served, no matter what the cost. The story was brilliantly written, and the plot was powerful. I was left pondering long after I put the book down.

Fire Feud is the second novel by Thomas Roehlk, but now that I’ve enjoyed that murder mystery published in 2025, I’m going to find his first novel, Red Deuce which was published in 2024.

This story involves two construction companies that have been rivals for more than 100 years, and under suspect circumstances, one of them has consistently underbid and won the major construction projects while the other has played second fiddle to those biggest deals. The founders of the companies, both immigrants from different companies, had learned to hate each other while they were helping to dig the Erie Canal.
